Concept pages use concise, original summaries of published material. We prefer scientific institutions, public agencies, technical documentation and specialist organisations. Open “Sources & further reading” on any concept to inspect its references.

What a connection means

A navigation path connects ideas. It does not always represent a direct physical step or claim that one thing causes another. The question on each path explains the connection.

A growing library

The first edition contains 29 authored concepts. Search looks through this library; it does not generate new facts on demand. Sources and explanations may change as the library develops. Scientific uncertainty is identified where relevant.

Images and diagrams

Editorial images are AI-generated visual interpretations. They are not photographs of documented events, microscopic evidence or precise technical drawings. Three-part diagrams simplify a process to help you get started.
